February, 2008 - Ms. Garrett and the Music Tech students are happy to announce that we received a '2008 Best Buy Teach Award' on Feb. 18, 2008! Our class received a $2000 Best Buy gift card to purchase supplies and implement new projects related to music technology.

January, 2008 - Ms. Garrett has lesson plans published in a book by Amy Burns. The book is a TI:ME Publication entitled 'Technology Integration in the Elementary Music Classroom.'

Ms. Garrett was interviewed in November, 2007 by Keith Mason of MusicTechForMe.com. The MP3 podcast about our Music Technology program is featured on Mr. Mason's website and is also available through iTunes.

September/October, 2007 - Ms. Garrett co-authored the Web Sitings feature and will be the author of the column in the final edition of Music Education Technology Magazine in November/December.

May, 2007 - Ms. Garrett was one of the recipients of the 'Teacher of the Year' award for the Birmingham City School’s Teacher Recognition Program, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Birmingham.

April, 2007 - Our Music Technology program was featured on the cover and in the 'Up Close' article in School Band and Orchestra Magazine.

February / March, 2007 - Featured in the 'Desert Island Technology' Article for Music Education Technology Magazine.

September / October, 2006 - Featured in the 'Online Lesson Plans Article' for Music Education Technology Magazine.

Ms. Garrett was the national TI:ME Teacher of the Year for 2006.
